Defeat Duchenne Canada wishes to inform the Canadian and global Duchenne community that Lisa McCoy has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of the organization, effective May 30.

We are sincerely grateful to Lisa for her leadership and the dedication she brought to our mission. Throughout her time with the organization, Lisa demonstrated a deep commitment to the families we serve and was a passionate advocate for those living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Her compassion, professionalism, and tireless efforts to advance our work in research, advocacy, and support have made a meaningful impact on the community and the organization. We wish Lisa well in her future endeavours.

As we enter this period of transition, we want to reassure our community that the important work of Defeat Duchenne Canada continues without pause. Our Board Chair, Brian Atkinson, will be providing interim executive leadership while the Board undertakes a thoughtful and thorough search for new leadership.

We remain fully committed to our mission: to fund leading research, advocate for timely and equitable access to care, and support families every step of the way. Guided by the strength of our community and our steadfast belief in a future free from Duchenne, we will continue to move forward with focus, stability, and determination.
