Duane Allen is set to participate in the 4x4x48 challenge, which entails running 4 miles (6.4 km) every 4 hours for a total of 48 hours from April 11 to April 13, 2025. Thank you for supporting Duane’s 5th anniversary of the 4x4x48 Challenge. This year is especially meaningful as we mark 30 Years of Progress.

Duane aims to raise funds to support the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in honour of his son, James, who was diagnosed with the condition before birth in 2009. Duane and his wife, Karen, hold onto hope that a cure will be discovered during James’s lifetime, and they continuously encourage him to maintain a positive outlook.

At 15 years old, James is currently a ninth-grade high school student. This year, he received the nomination as the school board’s first student representative for their inaugural Accessibility Working Group at the county level. As a teenager living with DMD, James has developed a strong interest in science and math, particularly enjoying chemistry and the periodic table of elements. Despite the challenges posed by DMD, James embraces life with a positive attitude and a zest for living.
