On Saturday, September 22 more than 100 people came out to the Jet Aircraft Museum in London, Ontario for the first “Pull a Plane to Defeat Duchenne”. This first-time event was held in partnership with Western University’s Commercial Aviation Management program.
Participants teamed up to pull a 10,000lb, beautifully-restored Canadian T33 jet 50 metres across the apron at the Jet Aircraft Museum. While most opted for a team of 4 or 5, Andrew Kleinhans pulled off a mighty feat of strength by pulling the plane by himself (disclaimer: don’t try this at home).
Pull a Plane to Defeat Duchenne has raised more than $6,000! Proceeds will help fund research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy – the most common fatal genetic disease diagnosed in childhood.
Thank you to everyone who participated or donated. And thank you to the Jet Aircraft Museum and Western’s Commercial Aviation Management program for helping make this event a reality!
Thank you to Corus Radio (980 CFPL, FM96, Country 104) for helping us get the word out, and to 980 CFPL’s Mike Stubbs and former broadcaster/current Defeat Duchenne Canada board member Peter Garland for MC’ing the day.
Congratulations to Eric’s Amazing Racers – winners of the Family Recreational Division and London International Airport – winners of the Competitive Division.
